When I was watching video 2.7, I learned a word "el barco." But in the example sentence it gave, another word "barca" was used for "boat"--"Fuimos a bucear por barca." Why does "barca" replace "barco" here?

Barca means small boat whereas barco refers to a larger type boat. The lesson probably needs to clarify this difference.

As Gohern says. There are also villages called ' La barca' but I've never come acrossa village called ' El Barco'. Don't know why!

Example: La Barca de Vejer.
