The player asks for a tennis ball. Probably. It would help if you would provdie a little more context or desription of what you are trying to communicate. I little more information about yourself and which language(s) you speak and which you are learning would also help to understand the question.

Looks good! Pedir is "ask for" Preguntar would just be to ask. You won't be asking a tennis ball anything (hopefully).
