I would suggest that you first translate both your words to choose from and your phrases because if you understand what they say the answers will probably be obvious. If you need help with the translation feel free to post your attempt here and we'll be - Kiwi-Girl, Apr 15, 2013
Happy to help. If we just completed the whole exercise for you, you wouldn't learn much at all :( - Kiwi-Girl, Apr 15, 2013

Contento enojado nervioso ocupado preocupado triste

Que bueno! Hoy yo ________muy __________ porque manana voy a hacer un viaje a Chicago.

Hoy- tells you to use the present form.

yo - & the verb 'voy' (I form of verb, present tense) helps you know that you are correct in using 'estoy'. Contento (because you are male) and adjectives must agree with their subjects, either singlular or plural, masculine or feminine, or for mixed groups, use the masculine form/singular or plural.

Que nervios! Tambien ___________ un poco _________________porque voy en avion y no me gusta mucho volar. (fly).

Again, the verb 'voy' is I go- in present form. Use 'estoy nervioso'.

Mis papas _____________ porque voy sola. (alone)

Mis papas - plural use of estar = están; they are more than one so you need the plural of the adjective: preocupados.

Mi amiga Patricia y yo _______________muy _______________porque ella no puede ir. Ella tiene que estudiar para un examen.

Mi amiga Patricia y yo = Patricia and I = use the "us/we" form 'estamos'. We are plural so you need the plural form of the adjective: tristes.

Es que Patricia ___________ muy __________________porque este semester toma muchas clases.

Patricia = singular female = he/she/you formal = está. Use the singular form of the adjective, feminine since she's female = ocupada.

Mi novio Cesar __________ muy ____________ porque el piensa que yo voy a bailar todos las noches.

Mi novio Cesar = singular male = he/she/you formal = está. Use the singular form of the adjective, masculine since he's male = You didn't have an answer for 6. but he is probably mad - use the masculine form of enojado.

Keep up the good work. It can be daunting to learn on your own without anyone to explain. It's a worthy goal.

Dnorth, there is a helpful "conjugate" tab on the blue toolbar above that can help you with using the right verb depending on who the sentence is talking about and whether it's present, past, future, etc. Just type in 'estar'. - katydew, Apr 15, 2013
Using the accents for estar is very important. está = he/she/you formal is/are, but just 'esta' means 'this' feminine thing. There are more but we won't get ahead except to say they are very important with estar. - katydew, Apr 15, 2013
Great job, Katydew! - jessicamccall117, Apr 15, 2013

I did translate the words, but still having problems.

I used the following:

  1. estoy contents

  2. estas nervioso

3.esta preocupado

  1. estamos trieste

  2. estas ocupado

I'm taking the course on line, and without anyone to help, it makes it very difficult. I'm 62 and just started back to school. Its not so easy for an old man to learn. I love Spanish and love the Spanish people, so I am trying.

Keep trying. It helps if you attempt to answer first. Yours is a personal goal but many younger learners try to get easy answers for homework here, so we try not to help out until the peron has given an attempt. You can send me a PM for basic questions - katydew, Apr 15, 2013
