Lo que or lo cual?

Se podría hacer el esfuerzo de comer juntos alrededor de la mesa en lugar de enfrente de la televisión, LO QUE / LO CUAL favorecería mas conversación entre los padres y sus hijos.

Lo que or lo cual can be used interchangeably, as both of them mean which.

In lieu of favorecería I would use propiciaría or incentivaría.

In this particular situation, I would use "estimular" in place of "favorecer" although the two words are similar.

Depending on how you construct the sentence, you could use either "lo que / cual".

Lo cual as you have written the sentence, or "Lo que estimularía mas conversación entre los padres y sus hijos, sería comer juntos alrededor de la mesa en lugar de enfrente de la televisión."

I think that favorecer is a perfectly acceptable verb to use here. Another meaning of the verb is "ayudar a".
