Crossword: Build Your Vocabulary with Compound Words 2

In English, words, particularly adjectives and nouns, are combined into compound structures in a variety of ways. One common pattern is to join two words such as fire and fly, into one word: firefly.

There are three forms of compound words. This challenge focus's on the the closed form, fire + fly = firefly.

There is only one sure way to know how to spell compounds in English: use an authoritative dictionary.

Flashcards: Crossword: Build Your Vocabulary - Compound Words 2

Guidelines:
-- Use only the words in the the Word Bank to form the compound word in English.
-- Create 28 English compound words, (you may find more than I did) and then translate the compound word into Spanish.
-- Indicate where the Spanish word will be used in the crossword puzzle.
-- One clue per member please, though you may participate every 1 - 2 hours.
-- Feel free to use sentences and/or pictures.
-- Note: You do not have to do the clues in any particular sequence!
-- Several of the words in the Word Bank are used more than once.

Did you see this? Indicate where the Spanish word will be used in the crossword puzzle. - bandit51jd, Apr 10, 2013
The puzzle will use the Spanish words! Is this one too tough? The flashcards are in Spanish and English. Is that enough help for the members? - bandit51jd, Apr 10, 2013
I didn't understand the translate into Spanish part. Now I understand. - katydew, Apr 10, 2013

Richard, firelight is a good compound word. I didn't use that one in the puzzle, though. Can you discover a different one where the Spanish will fit into the crossword better? This is for fun, not to make you feel frustrated! - bandit51jd, Apr 10, 2013
Part of the compound is "fire"! - bandit51jd, Apr 10, 2013
I'm still not seeing another word, duh... - RichardKa, Apr 11, 2013
Look at the edit she made to mine. I didn't get it either, but it was firefly. - jessicamccall117, Apr 11, 2013
Part of the compound is "fire"? Uh-Oh! Luz de la luna doesn't have "fire" in it. Nonetheless, this crossword has been really great as fun and educational besides! Can't wait for the next one. - RichardKa, Apr 11, 2013
IT is moonlight and firefly... I think we mixed them up somehow. - jessicamccall117, Apr 11, 2013
That's okay! I am just having lots of fun, and that's what this is supposed to be, as we learn more and more Spanish! - RichardKa, Apr 11, 2013

Thank you. I see now. - jessicamccall117, Apr 11, 2013
Bandit! Talk about English being confusing. Your word "resent" looks like you take offense at something Jessica said in a personal message, when all you ment was you sent your message again. - RichardKa, Apr 11, 2013
LOL- I never thought about it like that, Richard. But that is also how we feel about Spanish. - jessicamccall117, Apr 11, 2013
