Deshollinar - to take a close look at.........

I have come across this verb "deshollinar" in a book I am reading. Is it a verb which is often used, or is there some other Spanish verb which may be more often used ? I want to say for example " I want to take a close look at that book" - Quiero deshollinar a ese libro? Any other suggestions please?

I've never seen this verb before.

Deshollinar comes from the noun hollín (creosote). Normally it is used to indicate cleaning creosote from chimney flues, but in this case it is used idiomatically to mean "examinar". Also a after this verb is not necessary.

I think I've got it! "Quiero examinar detenidamente ..........."

You dont need the 'a.' deshollinar means to sweep the chimney
