Does Spanish have gender when using expressions?

I know Spanish has gender for every noun. For every adjective, it must change its gender according to the gender of the noun that it modifies. However, my question is, is Spanish similar to Portuguese, where I ( a boy) have to say (in Portuguese)"Abrigado" instead of "Abrigada" because of my gender? Someone told me that when saying "Encantado", I have to modify it according to my gender. I never knew this from books before, so I am wondering if I am noted right or it's not correct?

Yes, that is correct. Encantado is the participle of encantar, to bewitch or charm. Participles can be used as adjectives and when they are in Spanish, they must agree with the noun they modify, in this case yourself, in number and gender.
