How to say I need a ride

In English, we use the expression" I need a ride" such as "I need a ride to work, the store, the beach etc." Also we can be asked. "Do you need a ride? " How would express these in Spanish? I am thinking of saying something like, "¿Por favor, podría llevarme a la tienda? The translator for "I need a ride" says- ¿Necesita un paseo? is that correct? if so could you also say for I need a ride as "Necesito un paseo al trabajo" ? Does paseo mean "ride"? Thanks

This is one that I struggled with too because there's no single noun to use for "ride."

Although "aventón" is in the dictionary I very rarely hear that word used by the local people.

The most common ways that I hear everyday are...

  • ¿Me puedes llevar a la tienda?

  • ¿Puedes llevarme a casa?

Mariana, it must be a matter of regional usage then, because "dar un aventón a alguien" is very common in Mexico - 005faa61, Apr 7, 2013

The most common expression for "I need a ride" in this context is: Necesito que me lleves. Necesito que alguien me lleve al trabajo, playa, etc...

Is very common to use Acercar, instead of llevar.... Necesito que me acerques al trabajo, a la playa, etc...

Nunca he oído el uso de "acercar" por esta manera aquí en las Americas, pero obviamente se entiende y me gusta como suena. ¿Será usado en todas partes de España? - 005faa61, Apr 7, 2013

In England we usually say:

Would you like a lift? Can I give you a lift? This implies in a car.

If it's on a bicycle or a horse, we use ' ride'.

¿ Puede llevarme a la tienda en su coche ? Could you take me to the shop in your car?

¿ Puedes llevarme a la escuela en bicicleta? Could you give me a ride to school on your bike? Me gurstaría si me llevaras a la discoteca en tu moto. I would love it if you could give me a ride to the disco on your moped.
