¿Usted conoce la India?
Sí, conozco la India. Es un país hermoso.

¿Usted conoce la India?
No, lamentablemente no conozco la India. Nunca he estado allí.

The verb conocer is used for saying you have been to, visited or have knowledge about a place. Is also used in the negative form to show that you haven't been somewhere.

Thanks I was confusing conozco with conocer. - lesdaniar, Apr 5, 2013
Conozco IS from conocer, just the first person singlular form. - rogspax, Apr 5, 2013
