This could be one that you were the "innocent" or the perpetrator!

(Let's practice our language skills and try to use both English and Spanish in your posts, please).

Taco Bell Buy the Liberty Bell!

The Taco Bell Corporation took out a full-page ad that appeared in six major newspapers on 1 April 1996, announcing it had bought the Liberty Bell and was renaming it the Taco Liberty Bell.

Hundreds of outraged citizens called the National Historic Park in Philadelphia where the bell was housed to express their anger. Their nerves were only calmed when Taco Bell revealed, a few hours later, that it was all a practical joke.

My uncle filled my car up with Styrofoam peanuts...creative, but not so funny.

Mi tío llenó mi carro con pedazos de plástico (espuma de poliestireno)...creativo, pero no tan chistoso.

I received the following e-mail from my golf club outlining their solutions to increase their revenue.

Parking Charges

Following the discussion of the club’s finances at the AGM on Saturday 16th March, you will be aware that we are looking for new sources of income. With several ideas currently under discussion, the Board has decided on a pilot scheme to earn revenue for the club.

We are planning to implement paid parking for all vehicles on Golf Club property.

Ticket machines will be installed in front of the main entrance to the clubhouse and you will need to “Pay and Display” each time you park your car.

Parking Charges for cars will be as follows:

First 15 minutes - Free.

Up to 1 hour - £1.

Up to 4 hours - £3.

Over 4 hours - £8.

6pm - 6am Free.

Disabled badge holders will be free at all times.

Commercial vehicles - £10 at all times.

Penalty for not displaying a ticket £20.

You should always have a ticket on display in the front windscreen of your car.

With the first 15 minutes being free, this will allow you to be dropped off and/or picked up and for parents to easily drop off and collect their children. You will still need to display a ticket.

If you arrive at the cub after 6pm you will still need to get a ticket from the machine - the machine will be programmed to issue free tickets - so that the inspectors will be able to see when you arrived. Anyone leaving their car overnight will need to collect it by 6am the following or be liable for more charges.

The fee structure has been arrived at to encourage you to play your golf more quickly (you will note the price change at 4 hours) which should have an added benefit for all.

Inspectors will make random visits to the club during the day and any vehicle in breach will be clamped and will need to pay a release fee of £75.

We have partnered with Lopark Folio[see below], a start-up company specialising in the installation of parking meters for businesses and local authorities. Lopark have already presented to the Board how the operation will be run, including costs versus expected revenues, and we hope to turn a profit very quickly.

Machines will be installed during the week commencing 8th April and charging will begin 15th April. Inspectors and members of staff will be available for the first few days to help you with the new rules. They will be easily identifiable as they will be wearing bright orange vests and wearing clown make-up.

The Board hopes to have your continued good humoured support in this venture.

Bearing in mind we already pay £1,400 per annum, this had quite a few members up in arms before they reached the part about the clowns..

Early on April 1st a friend of mine went to the mini mart bought the morning paper and a lottery ticket with the same winning numbers. Returning he placed the two on the breakfast table, said nothing and went to the neighbors house. Later in the morning his wife was hysterical, screaming with excitement and calling all of her family and friends. He later returned for more hysterics and when she finally calmed he asked her to check the date no the ticket.

Do not attempt this. She did not believe his explaination of buying a ticket hoping the same numbers would hit again. Within a year they divorced.

"Twitter accounted their new move to charge tweeters $5 a month for using vowels. As if the English language wasn't already being demolished enough, as it is. Thank goodness this is a prank! Our children's children need to know how to speak with vowels!"

I thought this was especially funny.
