Caesar was initially a nickname. The etymology of it is discussed: Caesarius with the meaning of "hair" (in reference to the early baldness of Julius Caesar). But the name comes from caedere which means to cut 'cause some member of his family was born by Caesarean section procedure. From nickname it became a royal title meaning "emperor".
As you no doubt know the verb means to sack, to stop , to remove from office. As a name it refers to Ceasar which was the name of roman rulers.
Julius Ceasar is perhaps one ot the more famous rulers. He was removed from office i.e literally stabbed in the back. When he realized that his friend Brutus stabbed him. He said "Et tu brute?" ( and you too Brutus) and fell dead on the floor.
Caesar is like a formal title for Roman royalty...so to speak....I think that gohern said it very well.
