What is son?
Es que las naranjas son ricas en vitamina C. También las empanadas de Chile son ricas.
In the text book, the author explains that ricas means "rich,, full" or delicious. I found that "son" always follow ricas in the sentence. what's the role of "son"? =)

Son is the verb. If you will go here:
(Or, you can use the conjugator here on SD.)
Then, where it says, Please Enter a Verb, you enter the infinitive ser.
You will see that son is the conjugation of this verb in the third person plural.
So, (They) are. Or, in this casesince the subject is a plural noun, not a pronounthe oranges are . . .
