If you have a Kindle (or you can download Kindle to your PC), there are a lot of free and low-cost Spanish books. I downloaded a few beginner books (written in the present tense, etc.) and was surprised at how many words I could recognize after only a few lessons.
Here's an example of one, A First Spanish Reader: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TQYXPY/ref=oh_d__o02_details_o02__i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Chapter 8 is entitled 'La Familia' and pretty much covers all the words you learn(ed) in Lesson 1.10. After I read that I was running around my house like a dork reading parts of the chapter and translating! They were very impressed. lol
Each chapter is on a different subject so you can see how much you recognize. There are loads of other books, including children's books. Give it a try!
If you can find "Easy Spanish Reader " by William T.Tardy it is a very good place to start as it introduces vocabulary chapter by chapter at a pace that is easy to absorb. Start there and Buena suerte.
How much of a beginner are you?
Sometimes, if you're really new, you can look through the toddler/little kid sections of the library and find some nice, simple little books in Spanish or even bilingual that can help you get used to reading simple stories. They have easy vocabulary and pictures that can help you along.
