Welcome to the forum. You will find this forum to be very valuable in you language studies whether that be studying English or Spanish or both. Please complete your profile. That would help everyone including you..Tarde, afternoon, is a feminine noun so the adjective must have the feminine form. The correct form is 'buenas tardes'. It never occurred to me until now to wonder why it is plural. We have lots of experts here and maybe one of them can enlighten me.

My understanding is "Buenos Diás" means "Good days" in the sense of a hope or wish for the other person to have good days, not just today but in the future. Similar for Buenas tardes and buenas noches. - redcane, Jun 13, 2014

Hi and welcome to the forum.

"Buenas tardes" is the correct term. The noun "Tardes" is feminine so "Buenas" the adjective has to match.

"Buenas noches" is the correct phrase for "Good night/evening". The noun "Noches" is feminine so "Buenas" the adjective has to match.

"Buenos días" means "Good morning. " The noun "Días" is masculine (although it end in a "a") so "Buenos" the adjective has to match.
