¡Paz y tranquilidad!
Yes, it is true. Although it is difficult to us to believe it, Hugo Chávez is gone! No matter whether we have shared his ideals or not, that is irrelevant in these moments of pain, mainly, for his families and for a large part of the Venezuelan people who mourn his departure. Hugo Chávez succumbed, as every mortal to the lethal power of the cancer, of which no man is exempt. Therefore, It seems to me wicked and irresponsible on the part of some of his critics and the media that even in his death continue to make mockery of his luck. I think the only thing we have left is to wish his relatives and the Venezuelan people... peace and quiet!

They are making mistakes but are doing their best to level the playing field of life.
That sums it up pretty well; people have no historic memory, nor do they remember that in that same Venezuela, in 1989, pro-US, neoliberal president Carlos Pérez ordered to quell any demonstration against the Reagan-Thatcher neoliberal philosophy onslaught; which made Latin America the most unequal region in the world, Africa may have been poorer overall, but they were more equal in their poverty. 3000 poor Venezuelans from the barrios paid with their lifes in what came to be known as Caracazo, which ultimately led Chávez to the failed 1992 coup. Anyone can research this episode on the web. And this is just one little story, among many similar others.
But Al-Jazeera, BBC, FOX or CNN won't tell you this part of the story, they exist to make people as stupid as humanly possible, and it's awful to see they excel at what they do; they'll most likely speak about the '92 coup as an "attack on law, order and democracy(what a perverse use of this word)", and use his flamboyant--from an ruling upper-class, "educated" perspective- speech and persona; very dear to poor Latin Americans, to make the masses in the countries where they broadcast even more ignorant and stupid.
I, for one, commend Venezuela and other Latin American countries; among which my own country, Colombia, a very conservative, pro-US land, is not included; for deciding to make their own mistakes, their own way, for better or worse, and realising that they needn't a "former" colonialist-imperialist foreign power, with foreign interests to tell them what is wrong or right.
One thing is certain, no US president, British or Israeli PM, or ruler of the medieval Persian Gulf states will see their people throng the streets the way Venezuelans have done to bid farewell to their leader.
And stupid arguments like "Hitler was beloved by Germans" hold no ground in the Latin American context
He had been dealing with his cancer for two years ,
undergoing aggressive treatment , but sadly to no avail .
He will be remembered as a man of the people,
A man who had a great love for the people .
Unlike almost any other Venezuelan president before him,
he did give basic things to those who needed them
the most, and that should not be forgotten".
The majority of people in Venezuela loved Chavez
and are mourning him deeply,
I hope Chavez' spirit burns bright!
Un gran hombre del pueblo.
Whether you loved him or hated him , it cannot be denied
that what he did whilst in public office he did from the firm
and dedicated belief that he was helping his people .
May he have a quick and happy rebirth.
Que tenga un renacimiento rápida y feliz.

I will miss his rants - especially his recognition of George Bush jr being the devil.

Well, over 2 million people have visited the coffin to pay their respect directly to him; corporate media and conservative zealots may say whatever their little brains can blurt out, facts are facts.
Even the US ( what a joke, if you ask me) sent a delegation to the State Funeral, and unlike the funeral of, say, R Reagan, which was attended mostly by colleague world leaders, Chávez's funeral was attended mostly by friends, who weren't ashamed to show the whole planet that world leaders also cry when treir friends die.
El dolor y la pérdida en la cara de esta Mujer venezolana dice todo.
The grief and loss on the face of this Venezuelan woman says it all.

May he rest in peace. Puede descansar en la paz
Centuries of no represenation for the indigenous peoples of South America and the US Monroe doctrin ("South America is in our backgarden / yard") was bound, in the end, to result in a reaction that the USA & others would not like.
This is personified by Hugo Chavez & his "brothers" such as Evo Morales President of Bolivia.
They are making mistakes but are doing their best to level the playing field of life.
He died from cancer on Tuesday.
I am posting this because a number of members wanted to know what killed Hugo Chavez
A number of my friends died of Pelvic cancer , which had metastasised from the Prostate , this may well be the case with Hugo Chavez.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez apparently died of pelvic cancer, according to news media reports.
But that bit of information really doesnt shed much light on his medical condition before he passed away.
The term pelvic cancer simply means the cancer was located in the pelvic region. He could have had a wide range of cancers found in the trunk of the body. So it might refer to bone, cartilage, bladder, rectum or the reproductive organs. And, for a man, that could include prostate or testicular cancer.
