Weather and noticiero vs noticias? Plz answer quickly!

Okay guys,

This is my second post and I am completely befuddled on this subject. I have a couple of questions. I know there are accents, but for the sake of speed, I left them out. :( sorry.

1) What is the difference between noticias and noticiero? I checked them on this dictionary but they both mean news. I have a picture of a newscaster reporting on the VERY HOT weather and I have to write a sentence describing it. I wrote, Hubo el noticiero grande. I would like very simple sentences please. I am only in Spanish 2, so not too complicated.

2) I have a picture of a few pills, but I don't what sentence to write. There is not a picture of any person; there is only a picture of some pills. I wrote, un nino tomo las pastillas. Do you think that is okay? Or should I write "somebody takes pills?" I don't know how to say that.

Thank you so much!

Noticias is news in general, noticiero can either be the person presenting a news broadcast or the news broadcast itself (on the tv or radio, or even a newspaper).

For your first one, how about:

breaking news 'today it's very hot'

noticias de última hora 'hoy hace mucho calor'
