Which sounds more natural? Subjunctive or indicative

Nosotros entramos por la puerta a la casa. Después de hablar, nos decidimos ir a la playa. Cuando llegamos, vimos que ( no había nadie que estuviera en la play) o ( nadie estaba en la playa)
Which would be correct? Or are they both correct?

The second one. It means we saw that no one was at the beach.

Ok so when is the no hay/había nadie que +subjunctive used?

The issue is with "vimos". It stayes a fact, you saw that no one was at the beach. No subjunctive is necessary. If you use use a different verb , say pensar or dudar, the situation changes. - Noetol, Feb 27, 2013
