Here's my attempt to write the question in english, I'm sorry for the grammatical horrors you might find:

I was curious to know because I was about to watch the movie called "The perks of being a wallflower", the spanish name's "Las ventajas de ser invisible" so I thought that maybe wallflower was synonymous of invisible (I say maybe because movies not always have the same name in English than in Spanish) but when I translate the word but when I traslated the word it came out: not having someone to dance with, eat turkey, to be the ugly of the dance. I thought it was funny but now I am more confused. What does it mean then?

Just a very few small errors, "English"... Spanish name is (we say 'name's' but we write, name is). Extra phrase of 'but when I traslated the word'..... 'ugly duckling of the dance'. Good job in the translation, Gartic. - katydew, Feb 25, 2013

Una "wallflower" es alguien que va a un baile, pero nadie le pide a bailar, entonces se queda por la pared. Por eso, Wall(pared) Flower (Flor).

Wallflower means 'someone that you hardly notice'. They blend in with the background and stay out of the limelight. They are usually extremely shy so noboby notices they are even there. Wallpaper typically used to be covered in large flowers, and BigMike has explained the rest.

Es correcto el significado, se trata de un modismo, un dicho de Colombia.

Me encantan esta clase de "dichos" modismos tan peculiares:

Colombia -Modismos : - “comiendo pavo”, "vestir santos", en España se usa la segunda.

A COMER PAVO enter link description here

A vestir Santos enter link description here
