mutuamente ( moo-too-ah-mehn'-teh )

adverb ( mutually, each other )

We are looking for an official corrector for the Spanish sentences. If you are interested, please send me a PM.

Estamos buscando un corrector oficial de las frases en español. Si usted está interesado, por favor envíeme un PM.

Sinmeta will be correcting the Spanish sentences as his time permits. We still need more help with this very important task. Please correct your sentences according to his suggestions.

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish

2. Claudia y Eduardo reconocieron mutuamente el amor y el respeto que existía entre ellos después de tantos años. Finalmente en paz y rodeado de amor, Eduardo falleció.

Claudia and Eduardo recognized the love and respect they felt for each other after all those years. Finally, in peace and surrounded by love, Eduardo passed away.

Notes

The 2nd example sentence is part of our Word of the Day "novela" series. Check it out from the beginning on February 1 and stay tuned tomorrow for the next chapter!

Until we have an official Spanish corrector, please help with any suggestions to the Spanish sentences as you are able. It is very much appreciated. Thank you all for being here at SD and for participating in La Palabra Del Dia!

Me encantaría a tener una amiga quien es mutuamente compatible

a mis intereses. Eso sería mutuamente satisfactoria.

I would love to have a friend who is mutually compatible

with my interests . That would be mutually satisfying.

I am taking a punt on this , I am not sure if this is a correct usage

of " mutuamente" in Spanish.

You could say: "Me encantaría tener una amiga con la que compartiésemos intereses mutuos. Eso sería mutuamente satisfactorio" ... I love that picture!! - aileribel, Feb 23, 2013
@alleribei, thank you , is that a typo on"compartiésemos ' should it be "compartieramos" ?I like the way your sentence sounds , are you saying that one cannot use it the way that I did ? - ray76, Feb 23, 2013
I will await your answer before I change it , Thanks mate. - ray76, Feb 23, 2013
Oh, I'm sorry! Yes, it's compartiéramos! In that case it'd be "tener una amiga que sea mutuamente compatible"... but I don't know, it doesn't sound natural for me because if I were to say that sentence I would say "que sea compatible a mis intereses" - aileribel, Feb 23, 2013
No worries mate , pero estoy confundido ahora , pero para mi es normal. - ray76, Feb 23, 2013
I love that. I hadn't heard of it before. Good one, mi amor. - rac1, Feb 23, 2013

My neighbor and I came to an agreement whereby one will pick up the other's mail when the other is on vacation. It works well for us because it mutually benefits us.

Algunos dicen que lanzar una moneda es un ejemplo de ser ¨mutuamente exclusivo¨porque sólo caerá en cara o cruz. No puede tener ambas.

coin on edge

Aunque a veces ni hace...

Some say tossing a coin is an example of being "mutually exclusive" because it will only land (fall) on heads or tails. You're not able to have both.

Although someimes it does neither...
