Swampy was close...

Remember that it's always "Pensar en" if you want to say "Thinking of/about."

Estaba pensando en hacer tarea esta semana.

This is how I would say it, but I'd use the word "los deberes" instead of "tareas." - MyHeadAboveWater, Feb 22, 2013
My kids wanted me to say that they would say "deberes" too. "Tarea" they say they would use for general work, not homework. Another one of those regional things, I'm sure. - MyHeadAboveWater, Feb 22, 2013
"Tarea" is most common in Mexico, Central and South America. - --Mariana--, Feb 22, 2013

I am not a native speaker but here is my attempt:

Estaba pensando que para esta semana haría la tarea.
I was thinking for this week I would do homework.

"I was thinking" is a past participle. So it's estar + Gerund

I didn't use "por" because the duration is a week. So I stayed with para.

Rather than haber "to have" I went with hacer "to do, to make".

I hope some of what I attempted is correct!

This is my attempt, probably way off.

Estaba pensando de hacer la tarea esta semana.

Estaba pensando en hacer los deberes esta semana. ( edited version after reading suggestions)

If you try to translate it yourself and tell us what you came up with, we could help you understand the translation better. We could tell you if you made a mistake, and why.
