My Childhood dreams

Cuando era niño, yo sabía que quería ayudar a las personas menos afortunadas cuando me hice mayor, y también me encantaba cantar y actuar. Parece que tengo mi trabajo ideal!

Have I written the spanish correctly? This is what it is meant to mean:

As a child, I knew I wanted to help people less fortunate when I got older, and I also loved to sing and act. Looks like I have my dream job!

I'd probably say "cuando fuera mayor." Even if it is hacerse, it would be "me hiciera."

Would "fuera" be referring to a male or does this not matter? - bayth002, Feb 21, 2013
