Looking for some inspiration... Where in Spain??
I was in Gran Canaria the last time and had so much fun. But now I want to head to some place which is very different from GC. I am actually looking for a quiet, picturesque resort which is not overrun by bars and not rowdy.

Nerja in the spring or autumn is hard to beat. There is not much to attract the younger "sand, sea, and sangría" set. The town is charming with a beautiful "casco antiguo", three small beaches, and almost ringed by mountains. It is still a very Spanish town, and one of the few left that offer a free tapa with every drink. It is less than 45 mins. drive from Málaga airport by motorway. There are great drives in the mountains surrounding Nerja, and the beautiful village of Frigiliana is only 15 mins. drive away.
If you are not a sun person, the Picos de Europa park in northern Spain is nothing short of spectacular. Base yourself in either Ribadeo or Ribadesella on the coast and make day trips to the mountain villages. Magic!
For a summer city break, it's hard to beat San Sebastían one of the most elegant cities I have visited. The bus services in Spain are very good, frequent and inexpensive. From any base you can make day trips by bus (great for language practice). Also for a city break, Valencia is outstanding. Public transport links are great and there are magnificant beaches north and south of the city accessible by bus or tram
I am spanish, I send you some links, either of them are wonderful. they are public webs pages. If you want more information, don´t hesitate to tell me.
Spain it´s much more than Toros, flamenco or beach. there are spectacular natural places and great culture.

It's as lliones says, Spain is a big and varied country!
Go inland if you want to see places without tourists and practice your Spanish! If you want good promotional videos for Andalucía try these : Andalucia es de cine, it's a series of short films promoting various places. , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgr87Ti6gd4'
¡ Que tengas un buen tiempo!
I can't resist an add-on:
As padrin says , San Sebastian is really lovely, it has town beaches and great tapas, the best in Spain! If you wanta nice little town in the south: try Aracena in the Sierra norte de Sevilla, a little known area that i like very much and you can visit Sevilla too.. But don't tell anybody else, some places have a secret magic, easy to ruin.
