Proper way to say "Six Thousand Dollars" in Spanish?

I need help, have to write a paper for Spanish 3 and I've never learned how to write money amounts. If you could include correct spelling and accents that'd be awesome (:

Hi kaitlin_horne, welcome to the forum! Please fill out your profile more completely so we can better know how to answer your questions. "Seis mil dólares" would be the normal way to write six thousand dollars. You might also write it in figures, but that can get a little tricky. Here in Uruguay, it would be written "U$S 6.000" because the dollar sign by itself would indicate Uruguayan Pesos. And note the period to separate the thousands - a comma is used as the decimal here.The convention for designating US dollars may vary in each different latin country.
