Super Simple Question

Hey guys,

This is really a super simple question but honestly I never know if I'm right or not.

If I want to say "On New Years Day,"

Do I say "El día del año nuevo.."

or "En el día del año nuevo..."

Siempre se necesita "en" antes de una fecha especifica? Ya sé que no se necesita cuando hablamos de los días de la semana.

On friday.."el viernes"

Roger is right and most of the time we don´t use a preposition.

I can think of one case where a preposition would be used; if you talk about an action that takes place during most of the day, ie: "Durante (todo) el día del año nuevo había mucho sol".

You do not need the ´en´ for this. The majority of the time I´ve seen it without the en. I´m not saying it´s wrong With, as I don´t know, but it seems to be less common. I´m curious what others and-or natives have to say too.
