Since you have not completed you profile, I am somewhat hesitant to comment on your useage of an English word but, significant is an adjective, not a noun and unlike Spanish, English adjectives do not have number or gender so adding and "s" to significant does not "work". The noun would be significance (but this refers to the characterist of being important) or significancy which is a word that is not used very often but the one that would fit best in your question. Another word that would fit well is "connotation."
