Yes, that is what we learned - depending on what our compañero/a nuevo/a (who I am guessing might be Canadian) meant by "to pack." In colloquial American English, to "pack heat:" or often simply "to pack" also means "to carry a (often concealed) gun'" - kirk1, Feb 1, 2013
