How to say "Kosher" in Spanish

Can anyone tell me how you say "Kosher" in Spanish? The SpanishDict dictionary says "Kosher", but I'm not sure if there is a better or more common way to say it. Also, I don't know why it would start with a "K" instead of a "C" in Spanish, and "sh" in English does not have the same sound in Spanish. I would think the "sh" would become a "y" or a "ll".

What would be the plural in Spanish for "Kosher", such as for "Kosher meals"?

Thanks for any help you can provide. The translation of this word into Spanish confuses me.

  • Alimentos kosher

Welcome to the forum!

Have you tried the translator in SD? Go to the Translate tab at the top and click it. Then write "kosher" in the box. The English will show up in black and the Spanish will show up in blue. Click the blue speaker icon to the right of the blue "kosher" and you will hear it in Spanish.

"Kosher" is an adjective. I can't help too much in the Spanish end of things, but if you use the search box with some key words, you may find some answers.

Hi, the word is the same in English and Spanish with the differance in pronunciation. Kosher = kou-shar ( in spanish). Kosher is the word used for the food (meals) that Authorized for Jews ( conforme a la ley judaica). In the dictionary you will find that kosher = (comestible según la ley judía). So, i think that Kosher is not a Spanish word but is used in spanish from the English. With best wishes. smile

Or perhaps both English and Spanish got the word from the Hebrew. Thanks for your answer. - sinmeta, Jan 28, 2013
