Ti mismo normally is preceeded by a preposition (a ti mismo, por ti mismo), whereas tú mismo is not.

Which one to use depends on sentence structure.

I do the work myself ..... Yo mismo hago el trabajo

The work is created by me, myself/alone ..... La obra está creada por mí mismo

My thoughts:

If it is the subject of the sentence, it will be a subject pronoun followed by mismo. If it is the object of a pronoun, it will be the object pronoun followed by mismo.

Adding mismo does not change whether it is the subject or an object of a pronoun, so it really does not change your pronoun choice; choose the pronoun based on the normal rules.

Lo hice yo mismo I did it myself

Yo mismo lo hice I myself did it

Lo hice por mí mismo I did it by myself

Lo hice para mí misma I did it for myself

"yo" means " I ", while " mi " means my. the difference is "my same" vs. " I am the same."
