inglés ( een-glehs' )

adjective ( English )

We are looking for an official corrector for the Spanish sentences. If you are interested, please send me a PM.

Estamos buscando un corrector oficial de las frases en español. Si usted está interesado, por favor envíeme un PM.

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Hugh Grant is a very successful English actor in the United States.

2. El imperio británico difundió costumbres y tradiciones inglesas por el mundo entero.

The British Empire spread English customs and traditions around the world.

Please Note:

Until we have an official Spanish corrector, please help with any suggestions to the Spanish sentences as you are able. It is very much appreciated. Thank you all for being here at SD and for participating in La Palabra Del Dia!

La gramática inglesa no es particularmente difícil: En contrario, la ortografía es muy irregular y confuso.

Lo difícil en aprender inglés es la pronunciación y la ortografía.

The hard part of learning English is the pronounciation and spelling.

I remember in particular seeing "Big Muzzy" on video in our English lessons in primary school (as a tool in learning English) when the queen says: I'm the queen and I'm fat.

Recuerdo en particular ver "Muzzy Largo" en vídeo en nuestras clases de inglés en la escuela primaria (como una herramienta de aprender inglés) cuando la reina dice: Soy la reina y estoy gorda.

Dudo que el inglés sea el idioma más bonito, pero me gusta hablarlo en cualquier caso. (No pude encontrar una foto que vaya bien con esta oración, así que espero que disfruten este conejito.)

I doubt English is the prettiest language, but I like to speak it anyway.

I know I was supposed to use "inglés" as an adjective, but I couldn't think of anything tonight, so I used it as a noun instead. I hope that's ok. - GraceM, Jan 20, 2013

A mi me parece que más hispanohablantes quieren aprender ingles comparado al contrario

It seems to me that more spanish speakers want to learn english in comparison to vice versa
