Se calienten

In meal preparation and recipes the imperative tense is used as an impersonal command.

But your idea that (oil and water) uses the 3rd person plural is correct. It's the same concept of (Mary and Jane) being "ellas" or ("John and Mary) being "ellos".

For now, I suggest that true beginners just focus on the concept of "an" with "ellos" or "ellas" on regular AR verbs. Sorry if the links confuse anyone. - bandit51jd, Jan 19, 2013
Imperative *Mood* - rogspax, Jan 19, 2013
Thanks for the link on imperative tense makes a lot more sense now giving instructions ie on a recipe - robd, Jan 19, 2013
Thanks Roger. It is a mood rather than a tense. - bandit51jd, Jan 19, 2013
