You've Got to help me in Spelling Bee!

I was chosen in one of our major subjects to represent the entire class for the up coming English Week and my event is Spelling Bee. Now, my dilemma was I'm afraid to lose and therefore I need your help. I want to know what might be some of the words to come up on the said event of mine which is the Spelling Bee. Your comments are highly appreciated. God bless.

Spelling Bee in college? o_O

Hm. It will help if you know someone who has participated before. Ask what words were given. If it's an annual event, there's a 60-70% chance that some of those words will be repeated.

Anyway, I am going to assume that this isn't a formal spelling bee contest since you said that you were "chosen" to represent your class. You didn't exactly say that you "won". My advice is, don't stress it out. It's probably easier than you think.

If you need more tips and inspiration, watch the movie Akeelah and the Bee if you can find it.

Good luck!

It might be not a formal spelling bee contest but in a University where I belong selected English students in different levels will be my opponent. - 00cc5694, Jan 18, 2013
I see. You've been selected by your class. You can't be that bad. Just relax and have fun. Win or lose, you'll learn something out of it. - cheskasullivan, Jan 18, 2013
Thank you for believing in my capabilities on the said event. - 00cc5694, Jan 18, 2013

Every word in the dictionary is a possibility.

I before E except after C

What do you mean? I can't get your point "I before E except after C"? - 00cc5694, Jan 17, 2013
Grammar rule. - rac1, Jan 17, 2013
For example - "receive" not "recieve" but "piece" not "peice". - ian-hill, Jan 17, 2013
True. I don't know how hardcore her college is but sleeping with a dictionary might help. xD - cheskasullivan, Jan 18, 2013
Oh! Thanks for that information Ian Hill. You know what Cheskasulliv I often sleep with my books and papers under my pillow this sounds funny but I always did. HAHAHA - 00cc5694, Jan 18, 2013

What grade level are you participating in?

If you are in Grade 3 - Grade 8 you might find some words here to practice. There is a section for difficult words as well. I wish you the best of success!

I've been an English speaker my entire life, and I still can't spell complex words well. Good luck in your spelling bee. Relax, try to think of the word derivations, and remember that English and Spanish contain thousands of words with similar spellings.

I wish I could help you more, but English has such crazy spellng that you can make a contest out of it.

Indeed! English is dynamic and the only thing I can do for now maybe just to relax my mind and not really to pressure myself. Thank you. - 00cc5694, Jan 18, 2013

I would watch for words that are not spelled phonetically (that is one of them)
