Referring to "Soy and Yo"

Whether its "soy, Athletic, Soy intelligente, Soy artistic" do you have to put "yo" in front of it to describe? Native Spaniards don't technically use it, don't they?

You are correct. They generally only use it for emphasis, as the YO-ness in essentially coded into the word Soy.
