el profesor ( pro-feh-sor' )

noun ( professor, teacher )

Francobollo is the official corrector for the Spanish sentences. Please correct your posts according to his suggestions. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Have fun experimenting with Spanish.

Todos pensaban Einstein era un profesor de física cuando leyeron su primer artículo en una revista. Everyone thought Einstein was a physics professor when they read his first article in a magazine.

pensaban "que" Einstein era profesor de física (no "un" needed) - francobollo, Jan 17, 2013
Gracias, francobollo. I added the "un" because I thought "de física" was an adjective, and when there is an adjective one needs to include "un" or "una". So...if I had said "professor de física brillante" would "un" need to be included then? - Esteban3304, Jan 19, 2013

La profesora se enojó después de que demasiados estudiantes le dijeron que no habían hecho sus deberes usando excusas muy obvias.

The teacher got mad after too many pupils had told her that they had not done their homework using very poor excuses.

La profesora de español empezaba como mi profesora, dándome clases, pero, con tiempo, nos hemos hecho amigas y ahora las conversaciones en el café son un placer.

The Spanish teacher started off as my teacher, giving me lessons, but by now we have become friends and the conversations in the café are a pleasure.

"I met a woman long ago her hair the black that black can go, Are you a teacher of the heart? Soft she answered no." (apologies to Leonard Cohen)

Actualmente puede díficil ser profesor porque muchos estudiantes tienen varios problemas y se comporten mal. A veces están solamente traviesos sin tienen problemas. No van a aprender mucho salvo que tienen respeto para su profesor.

These days it can be difficult being a teacher because many students have various problems and behave badly. Sometimes they are just naughty without having problems. They are not going to learn much without having respect for their teacher.
