Multiple identical posts and comments when I click just once.

I'm sorry to post this here but I don't have a feedback button in my browser (Firefox). I started having problems yesterday with multiple posts and multiple comments even though I make sure I only click once to send something. Yesterday I noticed that a few people were having the same problem, but I don't know today if it is just me. When I try to post, the window just hangs and the 'egg timer' just keeps rolling over and over. To stop the multiple posts, I have to close the window, but I never know when to close it. If I do it too soon, I don't see my post or comment but if I wait seconds longer there are three or four duplicates. I would really appreciate knowing if this is just my problem today of if it is the site. Thank you!

I sent this through feedback again today. They are checking into it. - rac1, Jan 9, 2013
It has happened to me today as well (firefox). I like your rolling "egg timer" term! Is this really how it´s called? - 005faa61, Jan 9, 2013

Hi Julian, I don't know if that is the technical term. I highly doubt it, but it looks like the thing I use to time my boiled eggs. :-) - 0095ca4c, Jan 9, 2013
You are describing exactly what is happening to me. - katydew, Jan 9, 2013
JaJa, definitely not really called that, but still a pretty good term. And it's happened to me at least twice now too. - rogspax, Jan 9, 2013

Ok, the problem has changed a bit on my end. Now I am getting grey pages popping up telling me that my mesages can't be delivered because the server is busy. It's happend at least three times in a row. Perhaps that means something to someone? - 0095ca4c, Jan 9, 2013
It's called an "hourglass" Julian, though they can be made to take any amount of time. On the computer, it's called the "wait/busy" icon. - PeterRS, Jan 9, 2013

This is happening to me too - just happened again here, think I'll give up posting until it gets fixed (sad smiley face that still doesn't exist)

I know, they are working on it. Speaking of the smileys, I have asked again. I will keep on asking like a squeaky wheel. Lol - rac1, Jan 9, 2013
Smileys would be nice. Hey maybe this will post several times as a reminder that we would like to have them back. :-) - 0095ca4c, Jan 9, 2013

You are not alone, Margherite. I have been experiencing the same thing for the last 3 days. Upon posting an answer or comment the site hangs for a few minutes and then my postings are published 2-3 times. The same thing is happening to my PMs.

I sent a PM using the Feedback button to the support team 3 days ago and I am yet to receive a reply.

Hang in there.

Franco

Did you check your personal e-mail? That is where I am getting my replies. - rac1, Jan 9, 2013
Hi rac. It is happening to me with the SD emails also. The server is sending multiple duplicate messages. I got 68 yesterday, all dups and trips. - 0095ca4c, Jan 9, 2013
Muchas gracias Franco! - 0095ca4c, Jan 9, 2013
Yes, me too. Just to clarify, when you send something through the feedback button, a response is sent to your personal e-mail account, if you have one. Not to your pm here. - rac1, Jan 9, 2013
Yes, I told them the same thing, Franco. They said they are working on it. Hopefully, it will soon be fixed. : ) - rac1, Jan 9, 2013
Annie.. thanks for reminding me of that. I checked and did get an answer from the team. They wanted to know if the site was still acting up. I told them it was. - francobollo, Jan 9, 2013

It's not an isolated event, it seems to be happening to me too. From the looks of it, the SD server might be having issues. Hopefully we can get the tech team on this.

Yes, it is the server, I believe. I keep getting a message saying the server closed before data could be sent. I sent the link to feedback, but for some reason, the link didn't work out. - rac1, Jan 9, 2013
This is what I got: Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data. Here are some suggestions: Reload this webpage later. Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. - rac1, Jan 9, 2013
Yep, and me being technical I tried multiple browsers and settings... nada - DJ_Huero, Jan 9, 2013
Hi DJ...could the server be under cyber attack? I had it happen to me once. It was a group from Asia, who were experimenting before they tried the banking sites. - 0095ca4c, Jan 9, 2013
Yes, I tried on two different flavors of windows and two different flavors of android over 4 different systems. 3 of them have done it now, Looks very much server based. - rogspax, Jan 9, 2013
I sure hope not Marg - DJ_Huero, Jan 9, 2013
Good point rog... atleast we know we're not crazy - DJ_Huero, Jan 9, 2013

Hi Martha. I have just posted a couple of comments and they are ok. It looks like that is fixed. I haven't done a question or answer yet. I will let you know. - 0095ca4c, Jan 10, 2013
I just posted to 'drop one take one' and it worked fine. - 0095ca4c, Jan 10, 2013
I'm not having any problems either, Martha. - rac1, Jan 10, 2013
I'm glad it's resolved, that means I can go to sleep now ;-) ))) (It's 03.37 over here) - mcl020, Jan 10, 2013
Great, thanks for letting us know. - martha-sd, Jan 11, 2013

Me too, about 4x on one post today. I'd remove them myself, but don't know how to, and it won't let me flag my own posts for moderator attention.

Don't flag it, you will lose points. Just report to feedback. Edit out everything in the box and write "double post, please delete" and hope that doesn't quadruple post. jejejee - katydew, Jan 9, 2013
That's ok, Roger, I am deleting them as I find them. - rac1, Jan 9, 2013
H irogspax, you've piqued my interest. What is the correct term for my 'rolling egg timer?' - 0095ca4c, Jan 9, 2013
You mean besides "hourglass?" - It's the "wait/busy" icon. - PeterRS, Jan 9, 2013
@PeterRS...thank you for that tidbit. :-) - 0095ca4c, Jan 10, 2013

Hi Martha re the smileys, I do a bit of website building and don't think that putting the smileys back would be hard, in the content manager the admin can edit the editor bar options and it's a simple case of pulling the smiley icon onto the editor line. - Kiwi-Girl, Jan 9, 2013
Hello Martha. Thank you for the reply. I tried to 'comment' on this earlier, but was not able to. I pm'd rac about the error message in pink. - 0095ca4c, Jan 9, 2013
