¿Rapear? Is it a word?
Is rapear a real word? I've heard it a couple times before, but it's not in the site's dictionary and my Spanish teacher (she's form Spain, so I don't know if it's regional or not) said in Spain "To rap" is "Tocar/Hacer Rap".

Rapear is indeed a word which would be understood by anyone in the Spanish speaking world. It's not in the RAE... YET but this is only because they are very slow when it comes to assimilate new terms (they have only just incorporated the word "chatear"). Rapear will come soon in its own right. It's used by everyone except purists of the language, and understood by anyone, purists included.
Rapear.. es usada por los Raperos, o personas que cantan Rap.... Rap es un genero musical...
Rapear is a word used by Rapers. Rap is a musical genre... Sorry for my wnglish written, I'm a beginer jeje.. bye.
Rapear is Spanglish because there aren't really rappers in Spanish necessarily so you wind up with a adaptation to compensate when describing it; mostly used in the US, Mexico, or Puerto Rico. Now as all language evolves, the vocabulary and slang base does as well. Rappers can be called "raperos" by most I've seen. Hope that helps.
Seguramente entre la gente callejera que escucha esta xxxxxxx es una palabra, pero la verdad es que "rapear" no existe en español.
"Tocar/Hacer Rap" sería correcto.
One of the strengths of the English language is its ability to readily adopt new words from other languages and cultures. I don't think it is possible or desirable to attempt to shoe-horn an ever changing and evolving world into strictly static Spanish language. "To tweet" is as valid or invalid in English as "twitear" is in Spanish. As verbs they may last or disappear. The Oxford dictionary will not list new words like this until they are mentioned in a work of respected literature. I'm sure the Academy has a similar process.
Well, It is not in the dictionary, but is like a spanish conjugation for "to rap", because in Spanish there's not a word to discribe this kind of action (about making rap music), so it's use the english word.
