Identity Theft Trailer - Laugh if you know Spanish

Yesterday I went to the movies. I saw a trailer for a new movie, Identity Theft.

In this trailer, a Spanish-speaking character makes fun of an Anglo's name, which is Sandy. If you speak and comprehend Spanish at a beginner level, you will understand what the character is saying.

And, you should spontaneously laugh out loud.

I did, but I was the only person in the theatre who got the joke.

So, if you get it, let us know by voting for this question, or leaving a post.

Here's the link.

Sí, muy divertido.

I was about to look up how to say thanks for sharing, but I see Franco, not surprisingly, has beat me to the punch. Pero sin embargo, gracias por compartirlo.

Little exchanges like that are very enjoyable. It´s so nice to pick up little inside things, even simple ones, that would have gone over my head just a year or a few months ago (though I suppose I did learn both nombre and mujer pretty early on).

That´s about the level I´m at now. I watch a few pure Spanish movies, but they´re about half work and half play. But when I get to watch a mixed language film where there is a lot of Spanish in it, and I can relax just a bit, I really really enjoy it.

Last such movie was La Misma Luna.

Any other recommendations anyone?

Very funny! Could be worse. ¡Podría ser un niño nombrado "Sue"!

I think this video shows how if you understand even a little Spanish, the world opens up to you. It's not uncommon for Spanish-speaking people in the U.S. to say things to Anglos in Spanish that they think won't be understood. - JoyceM, Dec 29, 2012

I think I get it now, it sounds like Sandia, the Spanish word for watermelon no?

Or, Sandy. Sandy is a girl's name. That's the point. He's mocking him. - JoyceM, Dec 29, 2012

That was funny. It took me a second to understand that the man's name was actually Sandy, but then I got it...
