How do you say "army brat" in Spanish?
Is there an official term for "army brat" or "military brat" in Spanish? I'm trying to say "I was raised as an army brat." Thanks for your help in advance.

Soy hijo de militar y, sin embargo, no sé cómo se utiliza un arma.
Era hijo de militares, y mi familia se mudó once veces cuando era chico.
My attempt:
"I was raised as an army brat."
Era criaba como un hijo de militar.
If the action of raising is completed:
Fui crió como un hijo de militar.
There frequently are questions on this forum that involve expressions and idiom. Even the very word idiom is hard to explain. Any good dictionary will have about four definitiona for the word. Let us just define it as how things are said and how words are used. My point is, some things just don't translate. In a medium size city in Chile, you could not find a meaningful way to say, in Spanish, "it's raining cats and dogs". Well, mayber you could. I think a lot of Spanish speaking people are aware of some of our odd English expressions.
Not really. We say hijo or hija de militares.
