Presentar someone to someone else

Presentar someone to someone else

I am confused about the use of this verb. I know to introduce two friends, let's say Jorge y Marco, I would say, "Jorge, te presento a Marco" or vise versa, "Marco, te presento a Jorge," but what is the direct object and which is the indirect? Would you ever say, "Me lo vas a presentar" for "Will you introduce him to me?" Or is it "Me presentas a él"?

What about to say "Will you introduce me to him"? Is it:

A) ¿Le presentas a mí? B) ¿Le me presentas? (pretty sure that's wrong) C) ¿Me presentas a él? (even though I am the one who is being introduced TO him)

Note that I want to emphasize that I am the one who is being introduced to him. But from what I have heard and read other people say, it seams that there may not be any distinction and you have to say it as stated in example "C"

Here's my two cents:

Marco, te presento a Jorge," but what is the direct object and which is the indirect? Direct... Jorge / Indirect (to you ---> te)

Would you ever say, "Me lo vas a presentar" for "Will you introduce him to me?" Yes

Or is it "Me presentas a él"? I would not use this because it can be ambiguous. It can either mean you are being introduced to him or him to you

What about to say "Will you introduce me to him"? This one is tough because, again, it can be ambiguous. Possibilities: ¿Nos vas a presentar? -- Will you introduce us to one another (him to me and me to him).

¿Me vas a presentar ante él? (Not very widely used and kind of awkward).

Rather than saying Will you introduce me to him? we tend to use Will you introduce him to me? which, in essence, ends up being the same. ¿Me lo presentarás? or ¿Nos presentarás? should do the trick.

¿Nos presentarás? sounds the easiest to me. I think I'll use this from now on. - katydew, Dec 27, 2012

Introducir is a false friend and doesn't mean "to introduce a person to another!!"

Presentar is the correct verb.

OD= Objeto directo

Yo compré plátanos= Yo loscompré............los=.plátanos =OD

Para identificar se hace la pregunta ¿Que + verbo(compré) ?

OI = Objeto indirecto

Yo compré plátanos para José* = Yo **le compre plátanos ...le=jose=OI

Para identificar se hace la pregunta ¿Para quien + verbo(compré) ?

Le is indirect, but sometimes used as direct. Also if Jorge is the direct object so le would be used. with a you would the preopostional pronoun which is él.
