Hello, welcome to the forum! That I don't know. I doubt if anyone learned it very quickly though. It takes a lot of practice. Once you have taken the lessons here, you will need to continue practicing. It will depend on how much time and effort you put into it. Take advantage of the lessons, Spanish grammar and the flashcards. In addition, ask questions here in the forum when you can't find an answer. It also helps to listen to videos, radio and television in Spanish.

Good luck with your learning! Glad to have you here.

Some people have a gift for languages, others don't and many fall somewhere in between. I fall on the end of don't. I have been living in Mexico for 5 years and speak Spanish all day every day and still have trouble on a daily basis with one or two sentences. I know I will never be fluent. Others can get there is a few years. By the way it took me a year of immersion to speak more than a few basic ideas and to begin to feel comfortable understanding spoken Spanish.

But don't despair perhaps you are on the quick learner end of the scale. But in any case I believe you need a lot of sources including SD. There are four parts to a language: reading, writing, speaking and listening. SD can only help with the reading and writing. The other two you have to seek other sources. And since most communication is speaking and listening they are vitally important.

That depends on:

  • your intense desire to learn
  • the amount of time spent in studying
  • the amount of time spent in practicing
  • access to the Internet
  • your mode of learning (visual, audio, kinesthetic)
  • willingness to be committed to SD
  • among other things

Sometimes quantity can not be compared to quality.

I have been here since early this year, but this was not my only source; I also utilized library books and the Pimsleur CD set for Latin American Spanish. I have been able to devote large amounts of time to Spanish study before discovering SD. Since then, it's been doing what I can when I can. To speak fluently, you'll need more time to practice and learn. To get by with a few sentences and words, optimally, it's like within a couple of months. But you can't cookie cutter people because we're all different in one way or another....
