Vendra or Saldra?

Vendra or Saldra?

There's so many ways to use both that I'm not sure which to use at times. I wanted to say "what's done in the dark will come to light", but it seems as if either could be used.

Thanks! What reason to choose it, for my own future reference? - laboricuabella, Dec 17, 2012
venir is coming towards you. salir is going outwards. You are saying the lies will be exposed one day, so it is going out towards the light => salir - JazSpanish, Dec 17, 2012
I like your explanation. - gringojrf, Dec 17, 2012

This question and the previous answers has got me thinking.

I agree with Salir as the correct verb in this case. So when might Venir be the correct verb?

You will come to regret that. I would use Llegar.

It will come back to haunt you. I would use Regresar.

What goes around, comes around. I would use Recibir.

Not being very creatively minded I could not come up with a single time I would use Venir in this way. Anybody else have some ideas?

I agree, most "English" come gets translated to verbs other than venir. Venir is used more for physical movement, Ven aqui. - JazSpanish, Dec 17, 2012
