Ok so im trying to fill out a worksheet of when and, when not to use reflexives so for this question

-Yo______llamo a mi amigo Alejandro.

and

-Ellos______acuestan temprano al bebe.

am I supposed to use the reflexives so the first would be "me" and the second "se" or am I not supposed to put a reflexive. If not why?

This is your homework. Read your lesson again. Be more mindful of your spelling here. - Jubilado, Dec 16, 2012

A verb is reflexive when the subject and the object are the same

I wash myself.

subject: I

verb: wash

object: myself

Since the subject and object are the same, the verb is reflexive.

I wash the car.

subject: I

verb: wash

object: car

Since the subject and object are different, the verb is not reflexive.

Now apply these rules to your examples.

-Reflexives verbs are those in which the action fall back on the subject. Also, reflexive verbs are recognized in Spanish because they have SE attached to the end of it's infinitive. - In Spanish, verbs can act as reflexive and as non-reflexives. § I wash my hair. --> Reflexive § I wash my dog. --> Non-reflexive Reflexive verbs REQUIRE the use of reflexive pronouns.

Now let's apply.... "-Yo______llamo a mi amigo Alejandro." Is the action falling back on the subject? If yes, that use the reflexive tense. If no, leave it!

and

-Ellos______acuestan temprano al bebe."Is the action falling back on the subject? If yes, that use the reflexive tense. If no, leave it!

Good Luck!
