Is my translation of "You have been missed!" correct?
¡Te ha sido echado de menos!

Would "¡Has sido echado de menos!" be better?

Muchas gracias!

Se te ha echado de menos. (An impersonal statement)

Te he echado de menos (if it's you who's been missing the person)

Te hemos echado de menos (If the person has been missed by us)

Just a personal observation...from my reading and speaking with hispanohablantes, I very rarely encounter the "has been + verb" or "have been + verb" construction. It seems that the useage in Spanish is biased toward the present perfect, as Franco noted. I don't think the "ha sido" is really grammatically wrong, but I think it would be unusual to say it.

Again, not a scholarly opinion, just an observation.

And an excellent observation indeed. However, Peruvians rarely use the preterite. They use the present perfect (antepresente) instead. Spaniards do make a distinction between using the preterite and the antepresente. - francobollo, Dec 13, 2012
Latin Americans don't unless it refers to a habitual action "He vivido acá desde 1995", "He comprado en esta farmacia por años". - francobollo, Dec 13, 2012
Noetol, so what would the English sentence be without the "been"? Any ideas? - bandit51jd, Dec 14, 2012
Te echo de menos / Te eché de menos / Te echamos de menos (present and preterite) - francobollo, Dec 14, 2012
