What is the difference between saying, "¡Auxilio!" and "¡Ayudame!"? They are both phrases asking for help so when would you use them? Thanks.

Yes, aileribel is right. ¡Auxilio! is the equivalent of an SOS or an emergency, whereas ¡Ayúdame! could mean any degree of help needed, including an emergency, but it's less dramatic than saying ¡Auxilio! or ¡Socorro!

Gracias por su ayuda. francobollo :) I get that "auxilio" is more emphatic and is usually used for emergencias. Makes sense - MeLlamoWaverly, Dec 13, 2012

Uhm I believe that ayudame means help me, and auxilio means something more like a rescue me. For example

If I need help to understand something I'd use ayudame.

If I got trapped in a elevator I'd use auxilio.

Ayudame does mean help me and I used that as an example instead of another form of ayudar. And ok that makes sense. Gracias por su respuesta. - MeLlamoWaverly, Dec 13, 2012
