Pluscuamperfecto VS condicional perfecto
Can someone explain the real difference between pluscuamperfecto and condicional perfecto?
Ex: Lo detuvieron porque había cometido tres asaltos
VS
Ex: Sabía que lo habrían detenido para el día siguiente.
From what I can gather, the difference is that in Pluperfect, both the actions happened in the past and there was no uncertainty. And in condicional perfect, both the actions happened in the past but there was an element of uncertainty present.

The conditional perfect is not really a matter of uncertainty. It is more a comparison: one action is conditional upon another. In your example, the detention for the next day had to be triggered by something. I knew they would have retained him for the next day if... or because... The sentence would need that sort of context either within the sentence or within the context of another sentence or paragraph.
The pluscuamperfecto (pluperfect) defines the order of two events in the past. He was detained because he had previously commited three assaults. One event leads to the other.
