I'm really confused with this. I'm trying to figure out if I can conjugate it like this "Ana no puede tomar cerveza" but I'm not sure if tomar should also be conjugated or not. Any help would be greatly apprecaited!

Just like English, in Spanish you don't have two conjugated verbs together.

English -- Mary can't drink beer. ("can't" is conjugated but "drink" is not)

Spanish -- María no puede tomar cerveza. ("puede" is conjugated but "tomar" is not)

Ok gotcha, thanks! I thought that was the case, but I guess I just kept thinking of "tomar" as being translated as "to drink" and it didn't sound right in context. - saytow, Dec 11, 2012
