Depending on the context, it could mean:

What's up with that?

How about that?

What about that?

The above examples assume it is a question.

When you say "Y eso que..." in sentence (not a question) it can mean:

Despite the fact.

Even when.

Even if.

Example: Y eso que le dije que no regresara tarde. Even when I asked him not to come home late.

Franco is spot on (as usual - smiley) Here's another thread on the subject:

"No me gusta la paella, y eso que soy español"

"Juego fatal al baloncesto, y eso que soy muy alto"

"Hoy no me apetece tomar cocacola, y eso que me gusta mucho"

I don't like paella, even though I'm Spanish.

I'm terrible at basketball, even though I'm very tall.

I don't feel like having a Coke, even though I like it a lot.

In Mexico we say that to express that something is worthless for somebody else:

  • -¡Mi papá me compró un celular (portable) nuevo!
  • -¿Y eso qué?

Also some people could answer "¿Y?" meaning "so?" - maestroantonio, Dec 9, 2012

i have a lot of experience when talking to people from Mexico and when they say it, it usually means something along the lines of, "and that means?" Same with "y eso" like whats that mean or what is that
