When the ending "-ita" is added to the end of someone's name, does that indicate endearment/affection. Ex. "Laurita" for Laura?

Absolutely. These diminutives are used with close friends and family, small children, the elderly, etc. as terms of endearment.

Marta.. Martita or Martica (depending on the country)

Sandra... Sandrita

Elena ---- Elenita

Susana -- Susanita

Beatriz - Beatricita, etc.
