He is probably correct although in five years of living here I have never heard anyone say wow. ¡Qué padre!, ¡Increíble! yes, but ¡Guau!..never. Maybe it is used more in the interior of Mexico

I don´t think I´ve ever heard it in the interior either, but in the USA I have heard Mexicans say it while speaking Spanish. It sounds very strange - 005faa61, Dec 8, 2012

I love ¡uau! as in the translator. It reminds me of the tapatería in the centre of Viella which rejoices in the name "ñam ñam".
