The unemployment problem means that there is obstacles to providing work to those who are looking for job. In the Arab world there is a large number of people who are facing this problem. Yet the majority of those people are educated. The unemployment problem is one of the main problems that challenging and facing the Arab countries. Where in 2004 the unemployment rate was an about 21.7%, until now the number is increasing. However, there are many reasons and effects of this problem.

The main reason of the unemployment is the increase in population growth in the Arab world, which considers as the highest population growth rate in the world. Also, there is another factor that causes of propagation this problem, which is the inflow of foreign workers. So they become as alternative workers, especially in Gulf Arab States. Furthermore, the decline role of the Arab governments in providing jobs also causes this problem.

After all, the unemployment problem is a very dangerous issue, it has lots of negative impacts on the citizens, the society, and the economy . It may turns youths to become frustrated. Also, it may effects on their mental or their physical health. In addition, they may commit crimes such as suicide, so they will affect negatively the society in which they live. Another negative effect is that the waste of those resources which invested in educating and training those youths.

Finally, the problem of unemployment is one of the biggest challenges that facing the Arab countries. So the Arab government must find solutions to reduce the level of unemployment. However, the following ways may contribute to resolve this problem. First, improving the economic performance, and the investment in the Arab world which would provide numerous jobs for the labor force. Second, give priority in employment for the national labor. Third, encouraging and supporting the establishment of small and medium industrial business.
