Opposite of por fin

Opposite of por fin

Hi all,

Is there a phrase, still using the preposition POR, that is the opposite of Por Fin?

Basically, something meaning ´at the start´ or ´in the beginning´ or ´at first´

I´m looking for one that uses POR preferably (the other bookend to Por Fin) but if that doesn´t exist, then I´m up for other suggestions.

Thanks Roger

"Por el principio" means at the beginning.

"Por fin" doesn't mean "at the end" but "finally, at last". For example: ¡Por fin terminé mis deberes! I finally finished my homework!

Por fin or Al fin mean finally (as in It was about time) and not at the end, which is translated as al final.

Examples:

Por fin apareciste. ¿Dónde estabas metido? / It was about time you showed up. Where have you been?

Al fin aprobé la prueba de matemáticas. / I finally passed my Math test.

What you are looking for, if I understand your question correctly, is an opposite phrase to:

Al principio/En el comienzo/Al comienzo/ Al inicio ---> Al final or En el final is what I would use as opposites.

I could not think of phrases involving "por". Sorry!

Depending on what you want to say, "al principio" or "desde el principio" or in another context "en primer lugar" would be my choices.
